Health Guarantee
This Health Guarantee is provided by Cottontown Companions for the sale of the puppy identified below. Our goal is to provide each family with a healthy, well-cared-for puppy and to maintain responsible breeding practices.
1. Initial Veterinary Examination (72-Hour Requirement)
This puppy has been examined by a licensed veterinarian between 5–7 weeks of age and was found to be in good health at the time of examination. A health certificate has been provided.
The Buyer agrees to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of possession.
If the examining veterinarian determines that the puppy has a serious health condition that was present prior to transfer, the Buyer must notify the Seller immediately. Upon written veterinary confirmation, the Buyer may return the puppy for:
-
A replacement puppy of equal value, OR
-
A refund of the purchase price
The puppy must be returned to the Seller for any replacement or refund to be issued.
Transportation costs are non-refundable.
2. Contagious Illness Coverage (7 Days)
Contagious illnesses are covered for 7 days from the date of purchase, provided the puppy has been examined within the required 72-hour window.
Conditions such as kennel cough (upper respiratory infection) are not covered, as this is commonly stress-related and comparable to a mild cold in puppies.
Parasites, including internal or external parasites, giardia, and coccidia, are not covered under this guarantee.
3. Genetic & Congenital Health Guarantee (2 Year)
This puppy is guaranteed against life-threatening hereditary or congenital defects for a period of two (2) years from the date of birth.
If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a serious hereditary or congenital defect that significantly impacts the puppy’s quality of life, the Buyer must provide written veterinary documentation to the Seller.
Upon verification, the Seller will offer:
-
A replacement puppy of equal value
This guarantee does not include reimbursement of veterinary expenses and is limited to replacement or refund of the original purchase price.
The following are not covered under this guarantee:
-
Umbilical or inguinal hernias
-
Overbite or underbite
-
Undescended testicle (in non-breeding puppies)
-
Adverse vaccine reactions
If the puppy is bred prior to one year of age, this health guarantee is null and void.
4. Medical Expenses
The Seller does not reimburse medical expenses under any circumstance.
All veterinary care, vaccinations, treatments, and preventative care following transfer are the sole responsibility of the Buyer.
5. Buyer Responsibilities
The Buyer agrees to:
-
Follow a proper vaccination schedule
-
Limit ground exposure in public or high-risk areas until at least two weeks after the second vaccination
-
Administer any medications sent home with the puppy as directed
Failure to follow veterinary care recommendations or medication instructions may void this guarantee.
6. Ownership & Transfer
If ownership of the puppy changes within the first year of life, this health guarantee becomes null and void.
7. Lifetime Take-Back Policy
If at any time the Buyer is unable to keep the dog, Cottontown Companions will:
-
Accept return of the dog, OR
-
Assist in placing the dog in a suitable home
We do not want our dogs placed in shelters or rehomed without our knowledge.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Seller’s liability under this agreement is limited to replacement of the puppy or refund of the original purchase price upon return of the puppy.
No other warranties, expressed or implied, are provided.
